Josh's New (Used) Pick-up

When Josh came home from work today, this is what he was driving!  I was pretty excited for him.  It's a really nice pick-up.  He is struggling with the fact that it is a Chevy, ha ha, but that doesn't bother me one bit.  I love it!  Of course, he is very happy with it, too.  It's his work truck so he doesn't have to pay for any of it!  I think it's so pretty!

It's so fun when Josh gets home because the little girls are so excited to see him.  No matter the weather they are out there helping him bring in his stuff.

This is how Levi felt after not seeing daddy for a bit.  He wouldn't look at him and kept leaning back like he couldn't get far enough away from him!

He eventually started to warm up though, but just a little!

Tired and Hungry

Yes, it's true.  I'm tired and hungry.  Day number two with no pop and day number one of eating healthy.  That's all I have to say.

If you are looking for a cute picture this evening you will have to jump over to my other blog and see it there.  Oh and I suggest you do because it is a really really cute picture.  Check it out here.

Reorganizing

I feel like I am constantly trying to get organized.  But somehow there never seems to be enough time to really get things all figured out.  I did manage to get a daily schedule typed up today though.  I hope if nothing else, that it will give us a basic plan to go by.  Nothing ever really seems to follow a schedule, but it is still nice to have.  Then when I have those blank, lost moments I can just look at the schedule and see what I should be doing or what someone else should be doing.

It sure looks like we have a lot of free time, but I know that will be filled up.  It's a good start though.  And although it appears I get to sleep for 11 hours a night, that is not my reality.  Many nights I am up until midnight or later with Levi and I am also up 2-3 times a night feeding him.  So I do try to sleep in until 9:00 if it works out.  Then I don't really need a nap in the afternoon.

Next on my list of big organizing jobs is to get our chore system reorganized.  Sophia and Allison are getting older and needing to take on more responsibility.  So I need to spend some time figuring out how to divide up the chores.  I really want to get out my P.E.G.S. system and get their chores on the tags that they turn over when they are done.  Sophia really needs this right now because she is capable of doing her chores on her own, but needs to be reminded some times of what all needs to be done.  Hopefully soon I will have time to get all of this done!

As far as school goes, I signed both Emily and Grace up for second semester English through the North Dakota Center for Distance Education.  This is the school that Brooke is taking her English and History classes from this year.  I am so relieved to have this load taken off of me!  I have just been feeling overwhelmed and like I wasn't doing a good enough job teaching them how to write.  So I am very excited to have the burden lifted from me and to see how they like this program.  I have been very impressed with the school for Brooke.  My main reason for signing Emily up though was to see if the school is a good fit for her for next year when she starts high school.  I have no desire to teach high school while trying to keep up with the younger kids' school.  At the last minute I decided to sign Grace up just to see how it would go for her.  If this semester goes well, I am hoping to at least have her signed up for English next year.  I will say that I don't like the cost.  It is very expensive compared to homeschooling them myself.  However, I would say it is probably comparable or even less than private school.  The cost will play a role in how many classes Grace can take next year.  Emily will be the first priority.

On another note, the one class that I don't need to sign them up for online is math.  I started using Teaching Textbooks for math last year.  I absolutely LOVE this program.  It really does teach them without any help from me.  This year Brooke is taking Pre-Calculus using this program.  It is not necessarily easy for her, but she is doing it without a teacher or any help from me.  She told me at the beginning of the year that in the first few lessons she finally learned concepts that her teacher at the public school couldn't get her to learn in the two years she was there!  Now that is an impressive program.  I'm not saying it is perfect, but it is the best program we have used so far.

Well, that is some of what is going on at our house right now.  Oh, but I do have to share what we had for snack this afternoon!  One of my good friends gave me her recipe for Monster Bars.  No kidding.  They are just like monster cookies only you make them into bars.  You just mix them up and put them in a pan and bake.  No more spending all afternoon baking endless pans of monster cookies!  Yum!!

My Baby Is Growing Up!

Well, he is a long ways from crawling or walking or even rolling.  He is my lazy little man.  But he still has plenty of accomplishments.  On Thursday morning he gave me his first kiss!  It was so very precious!  I gave him a kiss and he leaned in to me and gave me a great big open mouth baby love!  It was so sweet!  Then yesterday morning Emily and Grace taught him how to wave and he did it!  I was so surprised!  Then this morning when he woke up I checked his gums and sure enough he cut his first tooth!  I was wondering because he had a bad night sleeping.  Today has been going good though and he is sleeping pretty good so far tonight so hopefully they won't bother him too much through the night.

The Funny Things They Say

I really need to get better about blogging the funny things the girls do and say.  Here are a couple of recent things:

Shortly after Josh went back on his last hitch, Allison came to me with a broken necklace.  She was really sad about this necklace and I felt so bad telling her that I couldn't fix it.  She said she was going to put it away and have dad fix it when he got home because he can fix ANYTHING, just like he fixed the sidewalk and the deck outside.  I love that she thinks her dad can fix anything and I hope she continues to think that forever!

The girls have been cutting and pasting nonstop with scrapbook paper, markers, glue sticks, and stickers.  They make all sorts of random things.  If I had known this would have been so entertaining for them, I would have set this stuff out a long time ago!  Well today Lydia brought her creation to me.  She had made a purse.  She told me it was for daddy because daddy's like purses!  Of course honey, I'm sure daddy will love it...right daddy?!

Fun Pictures

Here are some fun pictures from our day.

Emily and Grace let the little girls play with their scarves and sunglasses today.  Here is Lydia's look.

And Allison's.

Of course, Sophia too!

Apparently Lydia is taking this baby stuff a little too serious.

Ah, but we know there is really only one sweet little baby in this house!

Nothing But Sadness

I really have nothing happy to say about today.  This morning Brooke and I attended a funeral for a 17 year old young man that she went to school with the last two years.  She has known him since 8th grade confirmation though.  Such and nice young man.  He was in a snowmobile accident last Saturday and didn't make it.  Just devastating.

So thankful for every moment with my kids, good and bad, I just hope they know every moment of every day how much I love them.

Levi and Matthias - 7 months

Levi's best friend Matthias came over this afternoon for a visit.  They will both be 7 months tomorrow so of course we had to take a ton of pictures of them.  They are so close to each other in size, but they have both changed so much and look nothing alike!  They also have completely opposite personalities.  Levi is super laid back and Matthias is a real go-getter!

Emily and Grace said in this picture Matthias must be giving Levi a wet-willie!

I love this picture where they are both actually looking at the camera.

This picture is a perfect example of their differing personalities!  Levi is just sitting hanging out and Matthias is about to scoot off the couch!

Matthias eating his toes...so cute!

Here they were both turned looking at the t.v.

A Cozy Spot

I found Lydia snuggled up in Levi's carseat in the corner this morning playing on her InnoTab.  Gotta love a multi-purpose carseat!

Drive

With Emily and Grace gone on a trip with Grandma this week, I've been taking the girls in to Cartwright to pick up lunch where Brooke works at.  I guess I'm just too lazy to make lunch and clean up myself!  Oh, but it is worth the drive because the food there is so very good!  On our way home today we went for a little drive and took some pictures.

This is a rig that is up on the river bottoms near Josh's uncle's house.  They will be drilling seven holes on this one pad!  It sure will be a sight to see seven pumpers down there.

On our way back, we saw all these turkeys crossing the road in front of us.  I've seen quite a few turkeys before, but never this many all together!  It was really cool!

Editing Pictures For Fun

Funny Picture!

I'm putting this picture up because Emily and Grace begged and begged me to.  I look at it and I cannot stop giggling...seriously.  Brooke said he looks like a stoner!  I guess I would have to agree!  Sorry Bubba!

Levi

Boy these pictures sure ended up in a mixed up order!  I'm not even going to try and order them because it just ends up being a mess!  I bought levi a little hat today at Wal Mart so I had to get some pictures of him in it.  The pictures of him in the bean bag were taken by Em and Grace this morning.  In the mornings when they are doing their school, they put him in there with some toys and he sits and plays, just as content as can be.
